The NCAA released its annual Academic Performance Rate (APR) numbers today and Mid-American Conference football squads showed continued improvement in the four-year rolling average (2003-2004 through 2006-2007) that measures academic success rates among the nation's collegiate athletic programs. Congressional Bowl Receives NCAA Approval

Undrafted Free Agents Strike Deals

The days following the NFL draft are frequently more action packed than the two-day draft itself as many of the nation's undrafted collegiate players sign deals in the hopes of catching on with an NFL team. The MAC is no exception with several players whose names weren't called on draft day signed on after the draft, including one MAC standout who did not play a single down of football in college. MAC Scores Nine NFL Draft Picks

Eight Mid-American Conference players were selected on the second day of the NFL Draft Sunday, joining first day selection Jason Jones of Eastern Michigan to give the MAC a total of nine players chosen in the NFL's annual entry draft. The final tally of nine draft picks topped last year's total of eight player selections and was the conference's highest total since the NFL claimed 11 MAC players in the 2005 draft. Read more

EMU's Jones Selected in 2nd Round of NFL Draft

Eastern Michigan defensive end Jason Jones was selected in the second round Saturday of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Jones was the only player from the Mid-American Conference selected on the opening day of the annual event. The final five rounds of the seven-round NFL draft will take place on Sunday. Read more
